Bizarre Cars of Week

coolest flying cars

This article will show you some of the strangest cars on the planet. This article will take you through some of the weirdest cars ever created, including the Suzuki X-90 (Nissan Pulsar NX), the Hummer H2 (Hummer H2), and the Nissan Pulsar NX.

The Isetta

The Isetta was a unique car, and was known as a "bubble vehicle." Its bubble shape allowed for no side windows, and its entire front end hinged outwards to let the driver get in and out. The Isetta came with one door that could be opened to reveal a sitting area. It also had two headlamps mounted halfway up the body. The taillights were mounted normally, and the reverse lights were installed under the bumper.

The Suzuki X-90

The X-90, a concept vehicle introduced at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show, was based on a chassis from the global Suzuki Sidekick. This was then sold in the U.S. as the Geo Tracker. It was unique in that it didn't use the traditional 4x4 configuration and instead had a coupe-like design with very limited off-road capability. The X-90 featured two bolstered thrones, as well as a small trunk.

The Nissan Pulsar NX

The Nissan Pulsar NX could have only been created in the 1980s. The era was crucial for the car's distinctive styling. This week's Bizarre Car of the Week focuses on the bizarre design and unique features of the Nissan Pulsar NX. But before we get into that, let's take a look at a few of its most iconic features.

Hummer H2

The Hummer Hummer 2's interior is a mixture of comfort and industrial features. The stereo and controls are small and large on the dashboard. However, the Hummer H2's lack of ground clearance makes it surprisingly comfortable. Exposed bolt heads on the dashboard make it even more alien. This is why the H2 is so unique.

The Renault Avantime

Renault Avantime is a unique car with a bizarre name. It was a part French, part English portmanteau. Avant meant "before" and time meant "time". In essence, it was supposed to mean "modern coupe," which is a nice enough meaning, but not enough for the car to succeed. Avantime is an opposite, with a front like an animal and a back like a human. Charles Moss and others have called the car "a hideous fool".

stuff to put in your car

Toyota Multipla

Multiplas look strange if you've seen one. The windshield is slightly raised and the cluster of instruments in the middle aren't the most attractive design elements. You'll also notice the door card's thinness if you're right handed. It's great for righthand-drive drivers because it makes it much easier to place the Multipla onto the road.

FAQ

What are the requirements of an auto technician?

You must have graduated high school or GED, with excellent English and math grades. You also need to be able to read and write well. After passing a written test, you will need to complete a series of practical tests before you are allowed to begin working.

To work as an automotive mechanic, do I need a degree? Do I have to study part-time?

Although it's not mandatory, a degree can help. Employers are more likely to hire candidates who have completed a complete degree. It shows you are dedicated and have worked hard to achieve your goals.

This doesn't necessarily mean you can't continue to work while studying. Some universities allow students the flexibility to finish coursework during summer vacations and resume their studies later in year. Other universities permit students to take classes part-time during the school year.

How long does it take to become a good mechanic?

A mechanic is only an expert if they have years of experience. Working under the guidance of a professional mechanic is the best way to learn how repair cars.

You will have to spend time in a garage learning about cars and mechanics. You will need to be familiar with mechanical engineering books about mechanics, car design, and other topics.

And you'll also need to attend auto school.

The most important thing to do is start early. You don't have to wait until you are older to start studying automotive technology. Get started now if you are interested in becoming a mechanic.

What jobs are available for car mechanics?

For car mechanics, there are three main areas for employment:

  • Automotive repair shops
  • Dealerships
  • Independent garages

Automotive repair shops

This is the place most people begin to consider becoming mechanics. In fact, it's probably the easiest way to get started. Either you can work in a shop that is owned by another person or start your own business.

If you plan to work in a shop, you must apply to join the union. Once accepted into the union you will be trained by the union.

After completing the training, you'll be ready to start work.

If you decide to open your own garage, you'll need to register with the government. You'll need to meet certain standards after you register.

Once you register, you'll receive a license that allows you to operate your garage.

Your license allows for minor repairs and spare parts sales. It won't permit you to fix serious engine problems.

Customers will expect you to not only sell spare parts but also provide advice and guidance.

Dealership jobs

Most dealerships only employ mechanics who have a specific skill set. They might specialize in one area, such as brakes and tires.

However, some dealerships also hire general mechanics who can handle all aspects of car repairs.

These positions often require applicants to undergo specific training before being allowed to work. Employers are able to choose which candidates will best suit their position.

Some dealerships will even hire graduates right out of university. These graduates already have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering, so they are able to learn all about cars.

Independent garages

Independent garages don’t have to be associated with any particular dealer. Instead, independent garages tend to concentrate on providing high-quality services.

Independent garages are not associated with any companies so they can afford higher wages. This makes them generally more well-paid than jobs at dealerships.

Independent garages don't necessarily make for better work environments. Many business owners prefer to own their businesses and not delegate the responsibility to others.

It is possible to work long hours, but not have any control over the day.

Also, expect to make lower wages than if your job was at a dealership.

The good news? You can easily switch between different types of jobs. Ask your employer if you would like to work as a mechanic at a dealership.

Alternatively, if you'd like to work at an independent garage, then you could try applying directly to the owner of the garage.

Unfortunately, finding a new job can be difficult. Many other factors can also influence the amount you earn.

Consider, for example, what type of vehicle you are repairing and whether additional labor charges will apply.

What is the distinction between a mechanic or an automotive technician?

The two are similar but not identical. An automotive technician maintains cars, while a mechanic repairs them.

A mechanic must have good manual dexterity and be able to perform simple tasks quickly. They must also be able to diagnose problems accurately and repair them effectively.

A technician in automotive is more technical than a mechanic. They should be able read blueprints and use tools like drills and wrenches.

They should be able safely to perform complex procedures. They must also be familiar with different types of engines and electrical systems.

They must also be able to understand how various parts interact with each other.

The result is that a mechanic often earns less than an auto technician. Both careers have many options.

What is the length of an automotive training course?

An automotive course lasts for three years.

The first year is spent learning about cars and theory. The second year is spent on practical training where you learn how to drive, fix engines, and do other mechanical jobs around the car. The last year is spent at a local shop, where you will get practical experience with real-world problems.

Statistics

  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that the job outlook for automotive service technicians and mechanics is expected to decline by 4% from 2019 to 2029. (indeed.com)
  • There were 749,900 jobs available for automotive service technicians and mechanics in 2016, which is expected to grow by six percent through 2026. (jobhero.com)
  • 52% of Mechanics in the United States think their salaries are enough for the cost of living in their area. (indeed.com)

How To

How to become an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician is responsible for vehicle maintenance and repair. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. He/she works with customers to repair their cars and trucks, ATVs or snowmobiles. An automotive technician must be able to diagnose problems and make repairs quickly, safely, accurately, and efficiently.

If you want to be an automotive technician, you need an associate degree from vocational school. After completing the program, he/she must pass ASE certification. ASE stands to American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The ASE certification test consists two sections. The first section tests for mechanical knowledge, the second for practical skills. To take the test, you must visit one of the approved testing locations. These locations can be found online or at your local auto dealer.

A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. It varies depending on the location of the applicant. Some states require candidates to complete a training program, while others let them study on their own. Some states permit technicians to work immediately after they are granted their license. Others require them to wait at least six consecutive months before they can be licensed.

To become an automotive technician, one must apply at a local dealership. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeship programs usually last three years. A student will learn to repair basic things like changing oil, adjusting brakes or replacing tires. They also learn how spark plugs are cleaned and inspect engine compartments. Some students are able to perform more advanced repairs such as replacing shocks and installing air filters. Many schools offer classes during normal business hours. Some schools offer evening classes, however.

When a student has completed his/her apprenticeship, they become a journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. They are also taught how to troubleshoot electrical components and remanufacture engines. Because they have the experience and knowledge to do the job right, employers love hiring journeymen.

Once a candidate passes the required exams and is granted a license, they might consider opening their own shop. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics (2010), almost 1.7million automotive mechanic jobs were on the market. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. The candidate should expect to invest thousands of money in equipment and supplies if he/she decides to start his/her shop.

Many factors affect the automotive technician's salary, including location, education, experience, and employer type. On average, an unemployed person could earn $20,000 annually. A person with only a high-school diploma could make around $21,000 annually. Associate's degrees earn approximately $24,000 per annum. Technicians with a bachelor's degree earn about $27,000 per annum. And those with master's degrees made around $32,000 per year. A common trend is for salary increases to occur so a professional making less than $30,000 can reasonably expect to be earning $40,000 or more within a few years.
