1970 Muscle Cars

The huge displacement engines of the Detroit OEM's (previously known as The Big Three GM, Ford and Chrysler) were the catalyst for the rise in muscle car mania. In the middle of 1960s, there was a Japanese-German invasion. Daimler and Volkswagen were among the top car manufacturers, as was Toyota and Nissan. Mazda and Mitsubishi were Japanese carmakers. This invasion led to the creation of the first American muscle cars.
