Larry's plan to bring the car up to the next stage was straightforward.

1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

This 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, a rare version of the Fox-body sportscar, was produced in a very limited number. It was equipped with the 5.0-liter V8 engine which is tuned for increased power. The factory rating of this car was 235 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Its SVT tuning team based its performance on the Mustang GT, and therefore, the car's cylinder heads were replaced with GT40 pieces. The engine had other modifications, including a modified intake manifold as well as camshafts. It also featured vented disc brakes.

The engine was powered a 302CI engine with 235 horsepower. It was fitted with GT-40 Cast Iron heads featuring larger valves and more intricate intake ports. These heads were equipped with GT-40 lower intakes manifolds. They also had a special tubular cast aluminium upper intake based on the GT-40. The GT-40 manifold diverted the air into a series o rectangular ports. The Mustang Cobra's throttle body was also larger than H.O. spec engines.

1999-2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

SVT provided a performance convertible called the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra between 1999 and 2004. It had the same V6 motor, but was modified to increase its handling and performance. Cobra received an aluminum flywheel along with the V6 engine. The suspension was also revised with adjustable damping rates. The car featured forged alloy wheels with 245/45ZR-17 BFGoodrich CompT/A Tires. The distinctive sound of this car's suspension system began as a low, growling sound at moderate cornering speeds. It then became a loud, piercing howl at its limit.

SVT engineers attempted to reduce weight by taking 50 pounds off the front of the car. Twenty percent of the car's weight was due to the engine. Six pounds were taken from the coil-on-plug, direct ignition system. This new version of the Mustang SVT Cobra has a 55/45 fore-to-aft ratio, which is approximately one foot shorter than its predecessor. The new SVT Cobra now weighs 110 lbs less than the old model.

FAQ

Is it easy to get a job as an automotive mechanic?

Yes, it is possible. Many garages have vacancies that are advertised online. Many people apply because they think it will be fun. Applying for several positions and seeing if they accept student applications is a good way to get your foot into the door. You could also ask your family and friends if they know anyone in the industry. They might be happy to recommend someone.

What qualifications are necessary to become a truck driver mechanic?

This job requires you to be a skilled mechanic, although you do not need any formal training. Your expertise is invaluable because you know how quickly and efficiently to diagnose problems.

Your knowledge of diesel technology will allow you to identify the parts that are required to fix our vehicles.

What type of job is there for a car mechanic?

Three main areas of employment are available for car mechanics:

  • Automotive repair shops
  • Dealerships
  • Independent garages

Automotive repair shops

This is where most people first think of becoming a mechanic. It's also the easiest way you can get started. You can either work in a shop run by someone else, or start your business.

If you plan to work in a shop, you must apply to join the union. Once you're accepted into the union, you'll receive training from the union.

After completing the training, you'll be ready to start work.

If you plan to open your own garage you will need to register with government. You'll need to meet certain standards after you register.

When you've registered, you'll be given a license to operate your garage.

Your license allows you to sell spare parts and make minor repairs. You can't fix major engine problems with your license.

You will be expected to sell spare parts and also offer guidance and advice to customers.

Dealership jobs

Most dealerships employ mechanics that specialize in one aspect of the vehicle. For example, they might only deal with brakes or only replace tires.

However, dealerships may also employ general mechanics who are able to handle all aspects related to car repairs.

These positions often require applicants to undergo specific training before being allowed to work. This means employers can choose which candidates are best suited for their role.

Some dealerships hire students straight out of college. These graduates already have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering, so they are able to learn all about cars.

Independent garages

Independent garages don't belong to any particular dealership. They are more focused on providing top-quality service.

Independent garages can pay higher wages because they aren't associated with any company. This means that these jobs are usually more lucrative than those at dealerships.

Independent garages can be just as good places to work, but this does not mean they are better. Many business owners prefer to be in control of their businesses than to delegate it to employees.

It is possible to work long hours, but not have any control over the day.

You should also expect to earn lower wages than if you were employed at a dealership.

You can switch jobs easily. To work at a dealership you will need to contact your employer to see if he is open to the idea of hiring you.

If you prefer to work in an independent garage, you might consider applying directly to its owner.

The bad news? Finding a new position isn't always easy. There are many other factors that can influence your earnings.

This could include the type of vehicle that you are working on and whether or not you charge an additional for labor.
